We skied Shawnee Peak the day after Christmas. While the abundant snow had been washed away by the Christmas eve rain, it was still setting up to be a very good day with comfortable temps and clear skies and no wind. We ski Shawnee because it is close to where we live just outside Portland and the fact that it is a very family friendly mountain. We placed our two boys ages 6 and 4 in their lessons for the morning and then enjoyed some grown-up only skiing with my brother and sister in-law while my nieces were also in lessons.
The instructors were great with the kids and we had fun skiing on our own until their lessons ended at noon. After lunch, we went back out with all of the kids and had a fun afternoon together. All in all, it was a very favorable day. Not crowded at all and the best day after Christmas so far to ski.
