The Casablanca of Morocco is a bustling city on the Meditterranean Sea, full of mystery and history and intrigue. But no skiing.

The Casablanca of Maine is now the largest glade in the East, a full 44-acres of tree skiing excitement. Skiers and riders will certainly delight in this new addition to Saddleback, which continues to expand and improve the winter experience for visitors.

A unique brand of mystery and intrigue will no doubt be found amid the powder stashes and bumps, the twists and turns and tree trunks of this challenging new area. Way more fun than some sun-bleached city of sand wouldn't you say?!

The Casablanca glade was cut this fall by an ambitious 18-person crew, armed with chainsaws and unbridled enthusiasm for the task. The result is a glorious new area to enjoy and explore, another mark to add to the mountain's storied history, and another reason to head for Saddleback this winter. Access to the vast Casablanca glade is from the Muleskinner trail.

In addition to cutting the glade itself the crews added a few fun terrain features, like launch pads using both natural ledges and wooden rail slides, to appeal to snowboarders and free-style skiers.

There's a new warming yurt as well, located at the Kennebago Quad Chair, last year's gift to Saddleback lovers. The yurt will provide a cozy place to warm your bones and grab some food and drink without having to give up precious ski time by descending all the way to the base lodge. (You can enjoy your $2 PBR at the Swig N Smelt Pub later dude. But for now, we ski! And ski. And ski...).

Besides Casablanca, a new double black diamond trail called Family Secret comes into play this season. And two new Piston Bully groomers add more power to the grooming fleet.

All good stuff. Thanks Saddleback! Just a few more good reasons why Maine skiing and riding rocks!

Now, speaking of, I got a bone to pick with you Mother Nature! Where's our damn snow? Eh?? I'm waiting...

So, you gonna test your meddle in Saddleback's new Casablanca glade this winter?
