Ok folks, get ready. Ski season is maybe six weeks away.

Maybe less if Mother Nature cooperates with some cold snowmaking weather and some of the natural white stuff as well.

Maine's big three are already preparing for the season:

* Saddleback has set a Friday, November 27th date for opening day.

* Sugarloaf is planning to open up the weekend before, November 20th.

* I couldn't find an opening date for Sunday River, but it being a Boyne resort, I'm figuring it's November 20th as well. By the way, Sunday River turns 50 this season, so plan on being at the big birthday bash December 18-20.

Meanwhile, I hope you're getting your skis tuned and the gear bag packed and ready. Ski season is just around the corner... I'm telling you, it is!!

ARE YOU READY TO SKI? Well, are you??

Carey Kish says,
An update from Sunday River: Darcy Liberty, Director of Communications for Sunday River & Sugarloaf, tells me that "we try to be the first resort in the East to open, and have been successful the past two years by opening on Halloween. Not sure if Mother Nature will cooperate, but our plan is to open around the same time (or earlier) this year)." So there you have it. We could be skiing by Halloween! Go Sunday River go! You too Mother Nature!
